Loneliness & Isolation

Loneliness is one of the most painful human experiences, and it's increasingly common. The UK has been described as one of the loneliest countries in the world. Loneliness isn't simply about being alone, many people feel profoundly lonely in relationships, in crowds, or in busy lives. It's a signal that our need for authentic connection isn't being met, and therapy can help address that at its root.

How therapy can help

For loneliness, the therapeutic relationship itself is part of the treatment, not just a means to it: for many clients it's the first genuinely attentive, consistent connection they've had in some time. Beyond that, talking therapy helps you understand the barriers to connection, whether internal (beliefs about yourself, social anxiety, vulnerability) or circumstantial, and develop the confidence to build more meaningful relationships elsewhere in your life.
