Truly Private & Encrypted

Privacy is the foundation of effective therapy. You cannot open up fully if you're worried about who might be listening. Therapy England uses end-to-end encryption (DTLS-SRTP) for all video sessions, the same encryption standard used by financial institutions. Nothing is recorded, stored, or accessible to anyone outside your session.

What this means for you

Frequently asked questions

What is DTLS-SRTP encryption?
DTLS-SRTP is a protocol that encrypts real-time media streams (like video calls) end-to-end. It ensures that video and audio data cannot be intercepted or decoded by anyone except the intended participants.
Can Therapy England staff watch or listen to my sessions?
No. End-to-end encryption means the content of your sessions is inaccessible to anyone other than you and your therapist, including our own team.
Are my notes or session records stored anywhere?
Your therapist may keep clinical notes as required by professional standards, but these are securely stored and protected by professional confidentiality. No session video or audio is ever retained.
What are the limits of confidentiality?
Therapists must break confidentiality in a small number of circumstances required by law, primarily when there is an immediate risk to life. Your therapist will discuss these limits with you in your first session.
